Reiki Culture in Africa
Reiki is the ancient art of the ‘laying on of the hands’ to heal physical, mental, and spiritual issues. With this method, touch is used to give warmth, love, caring, and healing from master to student and enhance the follower’s life force. Rei is the universal transcendental spirit of the universe and Ki is the vital life energy found in everything and everyone.
In the human aura and chakras, different vibrations of Ki are given off to assure physical, mental, and emotional well-being. A person experiences illness when pockets of negative energy form around the aura and chakras. These pockets of negative energy must be removed to allow the Ki to flow and give health and wellbeing. Healers channel positive Ki and Universal Love to the blocked areas and replace the negative energy with positive Ki. Reiki teaches humans to realize the boundless potential in their lives and in their relationship with the universe.
Reiki is not a religion, but a healing technique which is used with medical healing to relieve suffering. This technique is based on ancient Tibetan healing and taps into the life force to heal ailments. Receivers undergo healing and self-empowerment by using Reiki to aid in their own recovery. This practice allows people to realize the unlimited potential in their lives and in relationship with others.
Reiki attunement is the ancient process of tuning body and soul to higher vibratory levels. Certain chakras are opened to allow a person to vibrate higher quantities of Ki into the body. Reiki attunement connects the follower to the endless life force of the universe. This special attunement is passed from Reiki master to student.
Reiki was invented by the Japanese doctor Mikao Usui. Dr. Usui studied throughout the world, concentrating on medicine, psychology, and religion. When his personal and business life failed, he retreated to Mt. Kurama to take the 21 day class, Isyu Guo. As he meditated, he was filled with the Ki energy and realized he could use this gift to help others.
There now exists two school of Reiki. The Traditional Japanese Reiki is based on Dr. Mikao Usui’s teachings, many of which never left Japan. The Western Reiki was spread worldwide by his students. The major differences in the two are the hand position used for internal treatment and the fact Western Reiki focuses mainly on healing.
