Kenya Climb (Sirimon-Chongoria Route) </h1> <h2> Facts and activities:<img src="images/mt kenya2.jpg" alt="conquring Mount kenya" width="150" height="113" /></h2> <p><span class="about">Distance: 245 km from Nairobi </span></p> <p><span class="about">Size: 750 Sq.km </span></p> <p><span class="about">Altitude: 1000ft (5,199m)</span></p> <p><span class="about">About Mountain Kenya: Its the world tallest free standing mounatain and the second tallest in Africa, its the only place in the world snow is found on the Equitor. </span></p> <p><span class="about">Activities: While here climb Mt.Kenya, trout fishing and play golf at the Mt.Kenya Safari Club.We organise for your climb by providing climbing gears, porters and sleeping bags, tents and guides who have reached the peak numerous times in the past.There are a few tented lodges that one can spend a night in the course of the 4-5 days of the mountain climbing. </span></p> <h2>Itinerary</h2> <p>Transfer from jomo kenyatta international airport to Nairobi hotel check in at either Comfort hotel,Serena hotel or Jacaranda hotel. </p> <p>Mountain Kenya climbing </p> <h2> Day 1. Nairobi/Nanyuki:</h2> <p>Depart Nairobi mid morning for Nanyuki arriving in time for lunch. The afternoon is spent in this area foracclimatization. Dinner and overnight in Mountain Rock Lodge or Naromoru River Lodge</p> <h2>Day 2: Old Moses Camp/Shipton Camp</h2> <p> 6-7hrs hike, 14km, 900m ascent After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. Dinner and overnight at Shipton Camp, 4200m,14km, 900m ascent</p> <h2>Day 3: Shipton Camp/Point Lenana/Old Moses Camp</h2> <p>9-10hrs hike, 21km Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs.
