Kenya Travel Information
The main tourist seasons are December-January, July-August which consider to the northern hemisphere summer holidays. The great migration of the wildebeest in the Maasai Mara is during this time. Beach Holidays and safaris can however be enjoyed from June all the way to January. Temperatures are temperate all year, day temperatures are typically 20-30C or 65-85F. The rainy seasons are usually in April-May and November.
Visa & Taxes
For an international tourist a Visa is required on entry to Kenya which is valid for six months. You should contact you Kenyan embassy or consulate or any British Embassy where there is no Kenyan Embassy although it is possible to purchase a visa on arrival at the airport. A $20 departure tax is levied when you leave Kenya.

Cards use in Kenya The value of the Kenyan Shilling (Ksh) against the world hard currencies various often by few shillings or cents. The prevailing rates are published in major daily's and other media by the central Bank. The use of credit cards like Master card, Visa are accepted in major hotels, travel agents, restaurants and airlines. You can also make a withdrawal from your using your card from the major international banks.

The U.S. Department of state have issued warnings to travelers to Kenya after the September Eleven attack, however the threat should not be a worry to any one who wants to enjoy a holiday in Kenya as the Government have an anti-Terrorist Unit which have thwarted attacks in the past. Also there is no country in the world that can claim to be safe from terrorists attacks.

Telephone Kenya have efficient GSM network by the two major providers (Safaricom & Celtel). The coverage in all major roads and towns all over the country. To communicate with your friends abroad you could bring an open cheap cell phone and buy a line to communicate. In hotels there are Telkom Lines where you could also use at a fee. Internet In all major hotels there are internet connections in business centers where you could browse the internet or send email a very reasonable rates.
